A Few Tips I've Learned

I just wanted to pass along a few tips I've learned the last couple weeks on more ways to save money. And you probably already do at least one of these things already, but for me, all three of these are brand new and I'm pretty excited about them.

1.) The Oriental Supermarket - This one I owe a big thanks to my sister Cheri. Not only have I been learning how to cook a little bit better (again, thank you Cheri) but now I've found the best deals on vegetables. All kinds of lettuce and spinach (as well as yummy yam leaves), carrots, sprouts, cucumbers, garlic and so much more at great prices! I personally went to Lee Lee's, but I'm sure there's plenty more out there.

2.) The Fruit Market - This thanks goes to Doug. There is a little indoor market on Main just east of Greenfield in Mesa that has THE best prices I have ever seen on fruit. Strawberries are 3 clamshells for $1, blueberries are 2 for $1, grapes 3lbs for $1, blackberries, bananas....you name it, they got it. I noticed most of their vegetables were higher than Lee Lee's as well as some sale prices at grocery stores, and their other items like bread, milk and eggs were high as well, but the fruit was unbeatable. For $10 (or even less) you could load a whole cart full. If you aren't near Mesa, look out for fruit markets in your area - watch for signs on the side of the road to point you in the right direction.

3.) The Library - Now I know this is nothing new. And I've heard from so many people how great it is, I don't know why we don't do it more often! Of course there's books, but the real deal I would say is on their movie library. Redbox and Blockbuster are great, especially with free codes, but at the library, you can rent up to 10 movies at one time and you have a full week to return them. Plus, you can even reserve up to 10 movies on your card so they are waiting for you as soon as someone returns them. Movies at home? I don't think it can get better than that.

Bruegger's Bagels - FREE Bagel and Cream Cheese

Bruegger's Bagels is offering a FREE bagel and cream cheese if you "Like" them on their Facebook page. Enter in your email and the coupon will be sent to you to print.

Mom's FREE Admission to Museums

Admission for kids is $10 for the Science Center and $9 for the Children's Museum. If you haven't been, or if it's been too long, here's your chance to go for half price!

FREE 8 x 10 Collage at Walgreens

Walgreens is once again offering a FREE 8 x 10 Collage using the coupon code GOODTHOUGHTS through Saturday, May 8th. Choose "in store" pick up and your total will be $0.00.

You can design your collage using just 1 photo and up to 20 total photos plus you can personalize it with words as well. I've done these before and they turned out cute. Especially for FREE! Or for $.99 you can ship the collage to someone....maybe a good Mother's Day present?

I know a lot of people are skeptical of Swagbucks upon first hearing about it. I certainly was. I have now been using Swagbucks religiously and since joining in January, I already have $60 credited to my Amazon account. How? By searching the internet. Period.

You do not have to buy anything, you do not have to click through a billion ads, all you have to do is use Swagbucks as your search engine. And REMEMBER to use it.

As you use the search engine, you will accumulate "bucks" which can be redeemed for prizes. There are all kinds of things like Starbucks, Borders and Target.com and PayPal Giftcards as well as well as music, electronics and all kinds of other things. My personal favorite is the Amazon.com $5 giftcard. As soon as I redeem enough "bucks", I redeem the prize and once verified I load the money directly to my Amazon account. It's extremely easy and user friendly and you can get FREE stuff for doing what you already do - Searching the Internet.

Safeway - FREE Cream Cheese

Right now, Safeway is running a Kraft promotion where when you buy 5 of selected Kraft items, you receive $5 off. Well, there is a phenomenal deal right now on Philadelphia Cream Cheese I just had to pass along.

In the cream cheese section, look for the Philadelphia MINI's. They are a new product and the introductory price is $1.49. They are NOT marked as part of the buy 5 save $5 deal, but they are in fact ringing up with the discount making them just $.49 each.

However, the deal gets EVEN sweeter. At most Safeways, there are "blinkie" coupons in the cream cheese section for $.55 off the mini cream cheese - this makes them FREE with a $.06 profit on each one. There is also a $.50 off coupon from the 4/18 SmartSource, which will double to $1, to make it an even better deal!

The stores seem to be running out of stock of the cream cheese so I would go soon if you want to snatch these up. However, if you don't get them, I think (although not confirmed yet) the Kraft promotion actually runs longer than normal so hopefully they will restock and we can load up.

They are small, they come 4 in a pack, but each one is perfect for a bagel (or even two), for kids or for camping and on the go - I tried the onion and chive flavor and it is great!

I will post more later, but I have a lot to do this morning, just wanted to pass along one of my favorite deals from this weekend.

Harkins Summer Movie Fun

If you are near a Harkins movie theater and have kids (or nieces, nephews...random kid on the corner...), you might be interested in how you can see 10 movies for just $7 this summer.

Movies such as:
  • Planet 51
  • Ice Age - Dawn of the Dinosaurs
  • Monsters vs. Aliens
  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
  • Alvin and the Chipmunks - The Squeakquel
  • Astro Boy
  • AND MORE!
Tickets are on sale now. You just select the day of the week you want to see your movies and for 10 weeks, on that day, you can see the feature of the week. Even if you skipped a few weeks and don't make it to all 10 it's still a great deal! Click on the theater near you to view their calendar so you can make plans in advance.

Einstein's Reminder

Don't forget to grab your free bagel from Einstein's this morning before 11am!

**Does NOT include cream cheese (or gourmet bagels). But for me, the honey wheat bagels are heaven....even without the "shmear."

Find the coupon on their facebook page if you haven't already

Mega Swagbucks Friday!

It feels like it's been way too long since reminding you that not only it's Friday, but that it's MEGA Swagbucks Friday!

If you haven't yet, sign up for Swagbucks and start earning "bucks" for what you already do online every day: Searching the Internet. (Plus get 30 Swagbucks just for signing up to get started.)

On Fridays, your odds of winning bucks are not only higher, but the amount you can win could be higher as well.

My prize of choice is the $5 Amazon giftcards. Since you can find almost everything you're looking for on Amazon, there's no tax, and often times there's free shipping, it makes the most sense to me. Yesterday in fact, I used $29 of my Amazon giftcards and "bought" 10lb hand weights I've been wanting. FOR FREE!!!!!

The only catch? You have to remember to USE Swagbucks as your search engine. My personal habit is to use google since it's already downloaded onto my toolbar, but I think I've finally broken the habit. (Plus, you can download the Swagbucks toolbar if that will help you remember to use it.)

If you still want to know more, you can read my previous post for more info, or just let me know if you have questions. But it's so fun and so worth it!

Sales, Coupons and eCoupons

I just wanted to pass along today's small trip to Safeway and truly show you how when you combine all THREE saving methods (sales, coupons and eCoupons), it adds up big time.

Purchased:
2 Nature Valley Granola Bars
3 Poptarts
2 FiberOne Yogurt Packs
60-count Delimex Taquitos

Had I just purchased at regular price: $30.50

If I had just shopped on Sales alone: $21.00 (a 32% savings)

If I used sales with just coupons: $12.25 (a 61% savings)

My total after sales, coupons AND eCoupons: $3.85 (an 87% savings)

Used:
  • $.40 printable Nature Valley
  • $.40 newspaper Nature Valley
  • $1.00 eCoupon Nature Valley
  • $.40 eCoupon Nature Valley
  • $1.25/3 PopTart coupon
  • $.75 off Printable FiberOne Yogurt
  • FREE FiberOne Yogurt (mailed to me)
  • (4) $1.00 eCoupon FiberOne Yogurt
  • $2 off newspaper Delimex Coupon
  • $3 eCoupon Delimex

And really, had I NOT purchased the taquitos, my total on the other 7 items would have been NEGATIVE $1.14! However, I had $5 off the sale price (with coupons and eCoupons) and in my house, the boys will definitely eat them so it seemed like a good time to buy.

So all that to say, load up at Cellfire and Shortcuts whenever you can! (the expiration dates often overlap) Combine it with regular coupons (hopefully used at a place where you can double coupons) and only use them when the item is on sale!

****note: I rarely go shopping on Tuesdays without first taking a look at the next week's deals...today I didn't. And of course it was a mistake. The Delimex taquitos are on sale for $6.99 starting tomorrow, so with the $3 eCoupon and the $2 newspaper coupon, I could have gotten them for just $1.99. Oh well. Even still "couponing" is a work in progress.

Coupons

There have been so many coupons available to print over the last few weeks I haven't been able to share. It's also hard to have to remember them all to share now... And in light of my new "schedule" I'm going to try to stick with, I will just post a few a day as I think of them. A few of my favorite ones for freebies are:

(This coupon won't last long! The single packs are $.84 at Wal-Mart and I'm sure if you can find the single packs elsewhere, they will be priced likewise. FREE sponges!)

(The taco seasonings go on sale for around $.50 so you could get 2 FREE!)

* $.50 off 1 Grill Mates Blend, Rub or Marinade
(The Marinades often go on sale for $1, so with double coupons, this would be FREE!)

* $1 off NYC Products
(This week, CVS has NYC Buy 1 Get 1 Free at $1.72 each, use 2 of these coupons to make them FREE)

Free Bagels at Einstein's!

If you haven't already, go become a fan of Einstein Bagels on Facebook. They are always giving away great freebies and coupons.
There is a reusable coupon you can print for a FREE bagel every Friday (before 11am) through May 22nd. You will also print another pretty good coupon for Tuesdays: $2 for a bagel, cream cheese AND coffee. Again, through May 22nd.

Safeway 4/14 - 4/20

Since the new grocery sales start Wednesday, I'm not going to spend too much time catching you up on what's out there this week. Instead, I'm just going to pass on one great deal that maybe you can snatch up before the end of the day tomorrow at Safeway.

There is a buy 5 save $5 promo for select cereals, poptarts and granola bars.

I managed to get 5 boxes of Nature Valley Granola Bars for $.06 each by using this scenario:

Nature Valley Bars - $1.50 (when you buy 5)
Use a combination of (5) coupons:
$.40 off HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE
Also from 4/18 SmartSource, 3/7 SmartSource
Load Cellfire $1.00 off coupon HERE and Shortcuts $.40 off HERE
(*Plus, if you load your card every time they're available, you should have a few additional coupons already on there)

At minimum, if you bring 5 coupons, that's $1 off each box (all coupons are $1 at Safeway!) making them $.50 each. Depending on how many eCoupons you load, your total will continue to go down on each box.

I had (1) $1 eCoupon and (3) $.40 eCoupons, bringing my total down to $.30 TOTAL for all 5 boxes.

Also, if you don't need or want 5 boxes of granola bars, you can mix and match between select General Mills Cereals (i.e. Cheerios, Cookie Crisp, Coco Puffs...Not ALL General Mills are included unfortunately. I was hoping for Kix and HoneyNut Cheerios....)

General Mills Cereal - $1.50 (when you buy 5)
Use $1 off 2 HERE or HERE or $1 off 3 from 3/28 SmartSource
Total Price Varies between $1 and $1.17 per box

And last but not least, if you have PopTart Coupons, they are only $1 in the buy 5 promo so it could make for some great deals!

Sound complicated? It's not! Let me know if you have questions!

Wow. Where Did I Go?

I'm seriously writing this in disbelief right now. I cannot believe I have access to my blog again!!! And I sincerely apologize there was no warning or no explanation. I didn't have any answers myself! One morning, I woke up and logged on to my computer to find that EVERYthing Google related had been blocked on my account. My email, my other blogs, my pictures, my documents...everything. Long story short, after the first day I received access to most of my account. Everything but this particular blog in fact. I had a message saying the google "robots" detected my blog as spam (because of all the links I post) however, since I was reading the message, I probably was a "real" person. So that started a whole verification process...that went on and on and on....... and now.... It's back!

To tell you the truth, I'm a little nervous to start writing and working on it again! I also had an email yesterday that made it sound like everything on my blog was deleted...but...HERE it is! So I guess I'll get going!

It has been killing me to not share the deals I've seen the past few weeks! Free (unlimited) Dove Shampoos/Conditioners, Free (unlimited) shaving creams, Free Easter goodies, Peanuts, Granola Bars, Bread, Pasta, Paper Towels, Scrubbing Bubbles....and so much more! Not to mention all the free goodies on Facebook, freebies for Tax Day/Earth Day, free samples.....sheesh! However, if there's one thing I've learned since I started "this" is, that ALL deals come around again.

One last thing, for these 3 weeks of having to wait and find out what is going on with my blog, I had a lot of time to think if I really wanted to continue it. I mean, on one hand, I ABSOLUTELY want to! Like I said, it was killing me to not be able to share all the goodies. However on the other hand, it was taking up a LOT of my time. And with a new marriage, a new house, new....life...I was trying to figure out what would be "best" for me. So I have decided, that, I WILL continue my blog. However, I will be setting side specific hours that I will be posting. (Although, I'm sure there will be a few exceptions.) So although I could probably post stuff off and on all day long, this week I will determine a "schedule" for myself. We'll see how that goes!

So tomorrow it is. We're back on track and saving money. I hope you have all managed to score some great deals this past few weeks and I'm so excited to point you towards more. It'll take a few days to get my feet wet again...but here we go! Check back often as I will start updating SOON! And if you're reading my blog STILL, thank you for not giving up on me!

Grocery Update

I just got back from a morning of shopping and I made a couple of updates to my Fry's, Albertson's and Target posts for this week. Things like: at Fry's, the cheese is still part of the "Buy 8" promo so you can grab that for $.49 and $.99 and there's $1 pillow deals at Target.

Also, it looks like Fry's has replenished (my local store anyway) their stock on Ronzoni and Bumble Bee if you haven't grabbed these freebies yet. And not only that, they still have the Kraft coupons for $1 off 2 right next to the cheese! Make sure to grab those if you can find them at your store!

Below is a photo of what I rounded up for today - my total? $19.76 (which is including tax and a couple of items I didn't have a coupon for!)

My overall total would have been $81 (not to mention what it would have been if I bought at a time the items weren't even on sale!). So is clipping coupons worth it? To truly have an extra $61 in my pocket just for handing over my coupons....I would say so! And this was just one of my days shopping this week!

Because I don't think a picture says it all since things blend all together (and because a few things got cut off on the left), here is a list as well:

2 Airwick iMotions
Oral B Stages Toothbrush
Battleship
Connect 4
Bedroom Pillow
2 International Delight Creamers
6 Ronzoni Pastas
12pack Diet Dr Pepper
12pack Coke Zero
I can't Believe It's Not Butter
4 Bumble Bee
2 Sargento Cheese
2 Lunchables
Tostitos Chips
Hormel Chili
Carnation Evaporated Milk
2 Sara Lee Bread
2 Green Giant Steamers
Gallon Milk

World Market/Borders

Here's a couple of coupons if you're heading out and about this weekend:

40% off one item at Borders (expires tomorrow)

Coupon Booklet

You can go HERE to request a coupon booklet by mail through P&G and Kraft. Coupons for Nabisco, Oscar Mayer, Capri Sun, Crest, Bounty, Pampers and many more.
The site is through Albertsons (and affiliates) so we'll have to wait and see if they're store coupons or manufacturer coupons. Either way, it'll probably end in some good deals!

Mega Swagbucks Friday!

Wow, I can't believe it's already Friday again! I feel like I just posted last week's Mega Swagbucks Friday announcement!

Well, just a reminder of course to USE Swagbucks when you're searching for something online. Then turn those Swagbucks into something you'll enjoy...like $5 Amazon giftcards, $10 Starbucks giftcards...or if you're really ambitious, a new iPod!

Haven't signed up for Swagbucks yet? It is easy, fun, and you're already doing everything you need to earn "bucks." Using a search engine online.

Sign up here and you'll earn 30 Swagbucks for joining, or if you're a bit skeptical and would like more information, you can read more about it read more about it in my previous post.
I was talking to mom about it a couple of days ago and she (who has earned about 650 Swagbucks since joining in February) still was unclear about it all and was hoping it was worth it....until I showed her how to redeem those points directly for cash into her Paypal account!
One thing to remember, you can only redeem 3 prizes a month, so if you're planning on "storing" up your points, keep that in mind. For instance, if you're going for the Amazon giftcards, every time you reach 450 Swagbucks, my suggestion would be to redeem your giftcard, likewise, for any other item. Don't wait because a $50 Amazon giftcard will actually cost MORE than if you redeemed them $5 at a time. Still have questions? Let me know!

Also, last week at Target, it seems like they decided to officially pull the "Johnson's Buddies Soaps" from being part of the baby products. You most likely won't be able to use those $1 off Johnson's coupons anymore so be prepared. However, there are some other items, like Johnson's Baby Cotton Swabs for about $1 you should be able to use those coupons on.

Don't forget that today you can enjoy another free cup of iced or hot coffee at Dunkin' Donuts!

And tomorrow, bring this coupon with you to Starbucks by 10:30am for a free pastry with a handcrafted drink purchase.
